SUMMARY:Cosdon - Dartmoor Fell Series
DESCRIPTION:Just the last hill to go\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBelstone green finish\n\n\n\n\n\nSWFellrunners say\,\,\, \n\n\n\nAnother fantastic short route hosted by Okehampton Running Club only 3.1 miles but 300m of ascent. Set in the picture postcard village of Belstone this is normally an afternoon event alongside the village fete. Parking available at cricket club just a short walk to Race HQ at the Tors Inn. Junior races take place before seniors and its normally £1 to enter on the day. \n\n\n\nThe route is unmarked but marshalled in a couple of spots. A very fast steep downhill start to narrow footbridge and then a sharp steep run up a path through gorse and soon onto the open moor. There is a trod to follow until you reach the edge of marsh basin. Do you skirt around or do you plough on through? ‘Tis is up to you’. Tough long grass\, hummocks and heather will impede your desire to run all the way to the top\, helped by the occasion sheep trod\, keep going up until you reach the summit cairns. \n\n\n\nThe very fast descent is hair raising-ly lumpy and if you can find a trod down even better. Soon you will be quickly back onto the gorse flanked path – choose between refreshing ford or the narrow footbridge. then a wicked little 150ft rise to the village green normally sorts a few placings. \n\n\n\nGreat atmosphere at the finish and a chance to grab some village tea and cakes! What’s not to like? \n\n\n\nCourse Records – (M) Tim Lenton 28min 53 sec (F) Jo Meek 33min 55sec \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nLatest Info from the Race organiser- Entries are not yet

SUMMARY:East Mill Tor Loop
DESCRIPTION:Series finale and presentations Sept 21st morning races/ prizes post race \nSign up not yet live \n \nSwFellrunners Says… \nOne of the most awesome valleys on Dartmoor so we are going to to repeat our series finale of last year – hopefully with a less chilly wind. An amazing course record from local runner Jamie Parkinson  was smashed last year by Sam Kelly (Exmouth harriers) . A brilliant run  over what is quite a technical course with many route choice options to help you keep thinking and debate later over a ‘wet’. \n Registration open from 9:00 -Junior races at 9:30 from Watchett hill gate; senior race at 10:15am same start but finishing at the Tors INN. \nSeries presentations at 12:30 and for juniors and seniors ( probably in the village hall) – all parking we hope at Belstone Cricket Club ( small donation please). \nThe Course\nStarting at the gate head straight up the rocky approach to Belstone tor\, follow the ridge along to Oke tor\, sharp drop down to ford crossing then sharp rise up sheep trod to East mill tor\, quick descent down to the ford either direct or further round on the stony path\, a very wide ford crossing then straight along then up to Winter tor and then back up to Belstone tor\, now fast back ( taking care over rocks) to the start gate but you have not finished straight down the road and turn right to finish next to the pub. Chill. \nKit\nDue to time of year – kit may need to be taken – please come prepared to run with raincoat\, hat\, gloves\, whistle\, compass and map. Kit will be advised on the day. \nThis a short Cat B race.  If there is a severe weather forecast check this site for details. \nAnyone willing to marshal junior or adult races please contact Richard Best via facebook messenger. thank you.
