


New Event for 23rd-25th Oct
We are really pleased to bring you our first ‘Pairs Mountain Marathon’ event. This will be both challenging event and a great introduction to self reliance, endurance and navigation amongst stunning Exmoor for teams of 2. Due to distance it will be adults only race. Two days great running with courses marked by traditional orienteering flags , but with full tracking. The event will be limited to 100pairs max. Registration on Friday evening; Two course options standard 25k or Long 40k course Saturday ( event kit required but not required to carry tents, so you can have a fixed camp); plus 20/30k courses on Sunday.
Maximum of 100 pairs for entries.
Race format and kit
Format – there will be a fixed camp for both Friday and Saturday nights – with no requirement to carry tents. ! ( phew) – so you will be running relatively light. The route as usual will not be revealed until you start on each day – with bespoke maps, finding and punching markers as you go, to achieve your best time on each day. The event is being run under FRA rules and will be subject to race license and UKA insurance. As usual ‘Prizes’ for tops spots.
Mandatory running kit will be full waterproofs, full body cover, gloves , hat, whistle, compass, rations for the day, miniminum 500ml water plus emergency bag per person, small first aid kit, head torch and charged phone.
Fixed campsite
We have arranged, included in entry, a special rate for 2 night camping, which includes the luxuries of….. real toilets,…… hot showers, …..running water and ….a wild swimming pool. There will also be the opportunity to book a farm cooked meal on sat evening. So a mountain marathon in style!
Entries open soon
We hope to have entry site open by May. early bird and reduced entry ( FRA Discount will apply to all entries before the ned of June) this is £75 per person. This should be a great opportunity to hone your skills, test your winter and mountain kit, and get used to race style camping/ recovery and camaraderie.
Note SWfelluners is non profit all proceeds go back to the sport plus we donate to Mountain rescue teams and National parks.
