With the temperature rising runners from around the South-west
converged on the Dartmoor village of Peter Tavy last Saturday for the
Annual Langstone Fell Race, part of the SW Fell Running series.
Starting in the centre of the village the runners climb past Stepens
Grave, to the Langstone, a tall upright stone due east of White Tor,
erected as a monument in prehistoric times and often associated with
stone rows and circles.
A series of races took place with juniors running 2km and 5km routes
while the seniors cover 8.1km on the out and back course which affords
stunning views across to Cornwall.
The overall winner was Adam Whittiker who finished in a time of 33
minutes with Chloe Clark the first lady across the line. Junior winners
Rory Grubb and Evie Gervis Under 10s, Dom Drew-Hill and Esme Prall
Under 12s, Alistair Taylor and Beth Kelly Under 14s, Arthur Norton and
Senara Beever Under 16s and Grace Gokhale Under 18.
Race Organiser Dave Chanter would like to thank all the athletes,
marshals and parents for their support and invite them all along to the
Peter Tavy Plod on August Bank Holiday Monday for a 5-mile trail run.
