Langstone Fell race starting from Peter Tavy is a revival of an old local race It is the second event in Dartmoor Fell Series. Course will be used in April for inter-counties selection so should have a course record by then.
The event is based around Peter Tavy Village hall and parking will be available in farmers fields. On line entry will be available.
Some brilliant terrain in course. From Hall it briefly follows a winding lane a few hundred yds which rises steeply and narrows to a gap. Across a narrow stream bridge then up an moor section to Gt Combe tor, through a few gates ( please take care to take best path and close gates) and then you are open moor ‘proper’.
A slight left then follow direct path keeping rocks to R as you ascend Cox tor. Marshal at summit trig point, From here some very fast running as you go north into a valley to follow a track up a long ascent to next ridge, simple ford heading slightly right but keep to good ground following NE to Langstone Standing stone. There now is a very fast descent for 4k! Hard track to start then clear grass but steep ridge track brings you back to finish by church. You cannot miss it you will be looking down at it!
Just under 10k with 387m of ascent will test a few. Enjoy
Junior races will tack place approximately 30 mins before senior race – please come and watch and support the future of the sport.
